Delhi Government Seeks Supreme Court Withdrawal of Seven Cases Against LG’s Authority

In a significant move, the Delhi government, currently led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has approached the Supreme Court seeking the withdrawal of seven cases. These cases, filed during the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) tenure, challenged the Lieutenant Governor’s authority within the national capital.

The Supreme Court, comprising Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotiswar Singh, has scheduled the hearing of the government’s application for May 23, 2025. This development marks a potential shift in the ongoing power struggle between the Delhi government and the LG’s office, a long-standing point of contention in the city’s governance.

The implications of this withdrawal are far-reaching and will likely be closely watched by political analysts and legal experts alike. The outcome will significantly impact the balance of power and the future governance of Delhi.
