Kerala’s DWA Leader Condemns Police Brutality, Questions CM Office Allegation

P.K. Sreemathy, leader of the Democratic Women’s Association (DWA) in Kerala, has strongly condemned the police brutality inflicted upon a Dalit woman. While voicing her support for the suspension of the Sub-Inspector involved, Sreemathy expressed skepticism regarding the woman’s claim of further humiliation at the Chief Minister’s office.

Sreemathy’s statement directly addresses the Dalit woman, Ms. Bindu’s, account of her experience. Ms. Bindu alleges she faced significant disrespect and obstacles when attempting to file a complaint at the Chief Minister’s office. However, Ms. Sreemathy has voiced doubts about the accuracy of this specific part of Ms. Bindu’s testimony, while still unequivocally condemning the initial police brutality incident.

This situation highlights the complex layers of the case, focusing attention on both alleged police misconduct and the subsequent claims of bureaucratic obstruction. The DWA’s stance underscores the ongoing debate surrounding the treatment of Dalit women within the state’s systems of power.
