India’s electronics sector is booming, and the numbers are staggering. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently revealed that India has ascended to become the leading smartphone supplier to the United States. This incredible achievement is fueled by a massive surge in domestic electronics manufacturing, now reaching a remarkable ₹12 lakh crore (approximately $145 billion USD).
This phenomenal growth represents a sixfold increase in electronic production over the past 11 years. Exports have also skyrocketed, experiencing an eightfold jump to ₹3 lakh crore (approximately $36 billion USD). This impressive expansion is largely attributed to the burgeoning smartphone manufacturing sector.
India’s prowess in mobile phone manufacturing is undeniable. The country now holds the position of the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer globally. Further solidifying its dominance, an astounding 99.2% of all smartphones sold within India are proudly manufactured domestically.
This transformation reflects India’s strategic focus on strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and its emergence as a major player in the global electronics market. The future looks exceptionally bright for India’s continued growth in this rapidly evolving industry.
