Bihar’s Electoral Rolls: Shocking Discovery of 65 Lakh Missing or Duplicated Voters

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has uncovered alarming irregularities in Bihar’s electoral rolls following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The scale of the discrepancies is staggering: over 65 lakh voters – a significant 8.3% of the total electorate – have been flagged as either deceased, having permanently relocated, untraceable, or even registered in multiple locations.

This massive discrepancy raises serious questions about the accuracy and integrity of the electoral process in Bihar. The ECI’s findings highlight a critical need for further investigation and potential reforms to ensure the accuracy of future voter lists. The sheer number of affected voters represents a substantial portion of the state’s electorate, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the potential impact on future elections.

The implications of such a large number of inaccurate voter registrations are far-reaching. It could potentially lead to electoral manipulation and undermine the democratic process. The ECI’s announcement serves as a wake-up call for electoral reforms and stricter measures to maintain the accuracy and reliability of voter data.
