Bengaluru Fights Back: ‘Check, Clean, Cover’ Campaign Tackles Dengue

Bengaluru is stepping up its fight against the dreaded dengue fever with the launch of a comprehensive campaign by the Health Department and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The initiative, aptly named ‘Check, Clean, and Cover,’ aims to drastically reduce dengue cases across the city.

This proactive approach focuses on community engagement and preventative measures. The ‘Check’ component encourages residents to regularly inspect their homes and surroundings for potential mosquito breeding grounds, like stagnant water in containers, flower pots, and discarded tires. ‘Clean’ emphasizes the crucial role of maintaining a clean environment by removing any debris or trash that could collect water. Finally, ‘Cover’ promotes the use of mosquito nets and covering water storage containers to prevent mosquitoes from accessing breeding sites.

The BBMP and Health Department are working together to implement this campaign effectively. This includes public awareness drives, educational materials, and on-the-ground support to help residents participate actively. The collaborative effort hopes to empower citizens and create a city-wide approach to dengue prevention. This multi-pronged strategy tackles the problem at its source, working towards a healthier and safer Bengaluru for everyone.

The success of the ‘Check, Clean, and Cover’ campaign depends on the collective action of all Bengaluru residents. By diligently following these simple steps, individuals can significantly reduce the risk of dengue fever and contribute to a healthier community.
